Congratulations to the country of Cambodia who today was awarded the World Literacy Awards for 2023 for its significant contribution to literacy by country. Cambodia was today acknowledged for its work in literacy development.
The Cambodian Government has since developed several educational initiatives to help eradicate illiteracy. Initiatives include programs for school re-enrolment, professional literacy, post-literacy, diploma equivalency, income generation and life improvement.
In 2020, the literacy rate amongst Cambodian adults aged 15 and over increased to 87.8%, rising considerably from 77.6% in 2008.
