Ambassador Lay Samkol had a meeting with Mr. Matthew Findlay, Head of Southeast Asia Department, at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office this afternoon. He informed Mr. Matthew of political development in Cambodia, with emphasis on the many recent significant achievements made during the first 90 days by the RGC under the visionary leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Both sides expressed their deep satisfaction with the fast-growing dynamism in bilateral relations and cooperation in several fields of mutual interest as the two countries mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. They also discussed ASEAN-UK relations and emphasized the importance of UK’s reaffirmed commitment to supporting ASEAN-lead mechanisms and centrality as underlying principle and platform for promoting cooperation, and to deepening partnership with ASEAN on all key priority areas of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
